Cut, Color, Play: How Hands-On Creativity Makes Alphabet Learning More Fun

Sometimes, the best way to make learning truly engaging is to make it personal. That’s exactly what we discovered in one of our recent experiments with ABCTalkWithMe.

We decided to test a simple idea: could we make the alphabet game even more exciting by adding a creative, hands-on element before the play even begins?

So, here’s what we did.
We created PDF sets of alphabet cards, but this time, they weren’t colorful or complete. Instead, they featured only outlines — simple contour images of letters and pictures. Nothing was filled in, nothing was flashy.

Then, we invited a group of children to try something different. Together, step by step, they:

  • Cut out the cards themselves, using scissors and working carefully.
  • Colored each letter and picture, adding their own personal touch.
  • And finally, started playing with the cards — which now felt special because they made them on their own.

The result?
The level of excitement skyrocketed. Kids were much more interested, much more involved. They didn’t just play a game — they played with something they had helped to create.

And when AR came into the picture, showing them animations and helping them learn the alphabet, the connection was even stronger. They weren’t just learning letters. They were experiencing them, seeing them come alive right before their eyes — and in designs they had colored themselves.

What’s Next

This small but powerful test showed us the huge potential of combining creativity + learning + AR.

That’s why we plan to release a physical version of this idea soon. A real product where kids can cut, color, and play — learning the alphabet in the most personal and fun way possible.

Stay tuned. More exciting news is on the way!
