Testing Day: How Kids Interact with ‘Find a Letter’ and ‘Build the Word’ Games
Today was a very important day for us — real testing with parents and kids. We wanted to observe how children interact with our games and how fast they can complete the challenges. Here’s how it went.
Find a Letter
The task was simple: find the letter that matches the picture. We measured how long it took for each attempt. Here are the results in seconds:
20.04
9.16
29.4
14.65
14.90
11.95
19.2
16.78
9.96
8.35
14.43
5.36
16.25
The kids did really well. As expected, the task became more difficult with more cubes (we used a set of 24), but they stayed engaged and focused. The best part — they enjoyed it!
Build the Word
This task was a little more complex. Children had to assemble words based on pictures. Here, we faced a small issue: without additional text, the spoken words were not always easy to understand grammatically. This was an important observation for us to improve the game later.
Here are the results in seconds:
23.81
27.06
35.41
47.87
41.07
48.01
29.3
The times were longer, as expected, but overall the experience was very positive. We noticed that the children started to lose a little focus towards the end — so we decided not to push too hard and ended the session on a positive note.
Key Takeaways
Overall, the test went very well. The physical product, the concept, and the child’s engagement at the start of the game all worked together nicely. One key decision we made as a team was to double the time for flying letters, pictures, and words. This will make the game a bit more relaxed and enjoyable.
In the end, everyone was happy. The child earned the cubes as a gift — and I treated myself to a candy. Great teamwork!
